At Philanthropic we believe that innovation is the way to a better world. Unfortunately, too much innovation is stifled through lack of investment before the project really gets going – meaning potentially world-changing ideas end up failing before they’ve had a chance to make a difference. This is known in the industry as failing to cross the ‘Valley of Death’.
We aim to bridge this valley of death by helping innovative start-ups and social ventures gain funding in the early stages through philanthropic crowdfunding – such as through our own innovative take on Carbon Offsetting – which we have termed ‘Innovation Offsetting’.

Unfortunately, studies have shown that while this sounds great in practice, in reality they are ineffectual, and in many cases can do more harm than good.
